Origins of Coffee
The history of the production facility in Włocławek, owned by Bakalland S.A., dates back to 1816. Over time, the demand for chicory grew, leading to the establishment of factories processing this raw material. -
1951r.
Vanillin Production
On the basis of previously nationalized assets of food companies in Włocławek, the Kujawy Grain Coffee and Nutritional Products Plant was established, incorporating the facility now owned by Bakalland S.A. Between 1951-1956, the first vanillin production department in the country was launched. -
1959r.
New Production Lines
As demand for food products increased, production expanded. Alongside the historic grain coffee production plant, departments for producing desserts, spices, baking additives, refreshing beverages, and vegetable-meat preserves were established. -
1991r.
Beginnings of FoodWell
FoodWell was founded in 1991 by three university friends, including Marian Owerko. The company’s first name was Uno Tradex, later changed to Uno Fresco Tradex, then Bakalland, and finally FoodWell. -
1993-1995r.
First Major Contracts
In 1993, the company secured its first major contracts with Globi, HIT, and Makro C&C, focusing on selling dried fruits under the UNO brand. -
1993-1996r.
Origins of Delecta
Delecta S.A. took over the liquidated state-owned Kujawy Food Concentrate Plant. In 1996, the company became part of the Norwegian corporation Rieber & Son ASA. -
1997-2004r.
Company Acquisitions
A series of acquisitions in the food industry, including the rapidly growing dried fruit importer Fresco, as well as Milpo, Sandra, Hordgal, Bakal Nuss, Fresco, Solger, Polgrunt, Polish Fiber, and Mogo, significantly expanded the company’s portfolio. This resulted in the launch of many new products, with sales reaching nearly 60 million PLN in 2000. -

The Bakalland Brand
In 2001, Uno Fresco Tradex Sp. z o.o. relocated its headquarters to Bakaliowa Street 1 in Mościska. This move marked a significant acceleration in both domestic and international sales. -

Stock Exchange Debut
The year 2006 was filled with significant corporate milestones. The company changed its name to Bakalland and debuted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW). -
2007r.
Warsaw Headquarters
Bakalland relocated its headquarters to Warsaw, establishing its office on Fabryczna Street. At the same time, the company outsourced central warehousing and logistics to streamline operations. -
2010r.
Entry into Bars Segment and Export
The acquisition of Pifo Eko Strefa, a producer of functional bars and breakfast cereals, marked a significant step for Bakalland. Following this, the company began expanding its export operations and launched the Bakalland Ba! functional bars as well as traditional breakfast cereals into the market. -
2014r.
Management Changes and New Brand Ambassador
The company introduced a range of new products sourced from the best global plantations and established a partnership with actress Katarzyna Bujakiewicz, who became the brand ambassador for Bakalland. Marian Owerko was appointed as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board. -
2014r.
Merger of Bakalland and Delecta
To better meet consumer expectations and address the challenges of the 21st century, Delecta S.A. became part of the Bakalland Capital Group, retaining the Delecta and Anatol brands. These brands continue to be highly valued by consumers for their top-quality products, a staple in every Polish kitchen.
The production facilities are located in Włocławek. Following this integration, the company withdrew from the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW). -
2021r.
Company Buyout
The company was acquired by Marian Owerko and Rafał Brzoska through an auction. Marian Owerko became the new President. -
2022r.
Brand Integration
The Bakalland, Delecta, and Purella Superfoods brands were merged, and the company’s name was changed to FoodWell. -
